FAQ

We know that checking out a new church can be intimidating! Here's a list of some of the most common questions people may have before deciding to join us in person or online.

Is New North meeting in person?

We are meeting regularly every Sunday at 9am and 11:15am at our San Francisco campus located on 777 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco, CA 94132.

If you can’t make it onsite yet, we’ll still be meeting for Church Online at 9am & 11:15am (PT) on Facebook and YouTube. As we meet more frequently, we’ll need many more volunteers to come back and serve with us again.

Where is New North Church meeting on Sundays?

We’re meeting at our temporary San Francisco campus located on:

777 Brotherhood Way
San Francisco, CA 94132

We rent Lake Merced Church of Christ’s (LMCC) auditorium and classroom spaces all week long. On Sunday’s, you might see LMCC’s congregation as they meet on the campus at 10:45am. We’ve been working alongside their leadership team and have a great relationship with them. Even though we are two different churches, we are working together to make and mature followers of Jesus Christ.

We are continuing to pursue a permanent facility on the upper Peninsula. You can learn more about the future of our church here

What safety precautions are being taken in light of COVID-19?

We are staying up-to-date on health recommendations and aligning our guidelines with San Francisco and California's mandates.

With the commitment of cultivating an authentic community of believers who love and serve people, we want to be respectful of our community, our neighbors, and the congregation that’s sharing their building with us and want to do what is best for the health and safety of our New North Family.

The Apostle Paul makes it clear in Romans 13 that as believers we should seek to obey the civil authorities God has placed over us as best we can. Because of that, we are following the city’s health guidelines that masks are no longer required but strongly recommended, especially for unvaccinated people and our kids and students.

We want to love each other well, protect our most vulnerable, and want to be people of peace in the community God has placed us in. People can choose to wear masks around others whether it’s required or not for added protection.

‍Hand sanitizer will be made available throughout the building and face masks are available at the welcome kiosk.  Any communion elements, coffee or snacks are individually wrapped and handled by a small team. Frequent sanitization of common surfaces occurs before and after services and throughout the week.

‍If you are sick or have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, we ask that you join us for Church Online.

What does New North believe about Baby Dedication?

Mark 10 tells of how Jesus was at a house teaching his disciples privately. Upon hearing about Jesus, people began “bringing children to him that he might touch them” but his disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw that, he told them to “let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.“

Jesus clearly stated that “whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Then Jesus took the children in his arms and blessed them, by laying his hands on them.

Here at New North Church, we do not baptize babies or small children, instead we dedicate them to the Lord. We believe that baptism is for those who have personally trusted in Christ as Savior and Lord and really are at a point where they understand what that means. At our Baby Dedication services, we have the opportunity to bring children to the Lord as an expression of our faith, to reaffirm the Christ-centered role of parents, and as a body to show support to parents and families as they commit their children to Him.

If you would like to dedicate a child in your family, please contact our Kids Director, Sam Cerdena, at samc@newnorth.church.
