Speaker

McKenna Takach

Pastor McKenna continues The Jesus Way: Journey Through the Sermon on the Mount with Matthew 7:13-23, where Jesus warns us to take the narrow path, beware of false teachers, and do the Father’s will. These aren’t threats but invitations to trust Him. The good life isn’t about rule-following—it’s about walking with Jesus.

Here are some quick questions to prompt your self evaluation and introspection in the company of the Holy Spirit:

Where are you resisting growth, change or discomfort?

What in your life makes me feel the most valuable?

What fears are driving your actions?

Community Group Questions: Matt 7:13-23

Warm Up:

  1. When in your life have you felt like you had to make a choice between two paths? How did you decide?

Read Matthew 7:13-14

  1. Jesus is clear there are only two options for every person to choose from: the broad road and the narrow road. How does this conflict with our culture’s understanding of life choices?
  2. When in your life have you experienced the pain and/or the beauty of walking with Jesus on the narrow path?

Read Matthew 7:15-20

  1. Jesus warns that who you listen to and follow determines the kind of person you become. You can follow someone right off of the narrow path if you’re not careful. Who/what are the false prophets our culture wants us to listen to?
  2. In the church (without naming names or degrading other churches) how have you seen the idea of “false prophets” hurt the body of Christ?

Read Matthew 7:21-24

  1. What’s the difference between a threat and a warning? Why is it important that we understand this passage as a warning from Jesus and not as a threat?
  2. Why does Jesus turn people away on the ‘Day of Judgement’? How is this both comforting and convicting for you?
  3. Where might Jesus be asking you to course correct or repent of the direction you’ve been heading in? Pray about it together!
