Why We Pray Together

Series

A Praying Life | May 10, 2026

Speaker

Zohary Ross

This Sunday, Pastor Zohary taught on the importance of corporate prayer by looking at one of the longest prayers in the Bible from Nehemiah. We’re reminded that prayer was meant to be personal, but never private.

Discussion Questions:

Warm Up:

  • Share with the group some of your favorite things about CG this cycle.
  • Brainstorm together ways your group can stay connected in fellowship throughout the summer months.

Reflect on the Message

  • What stood out to you from Sunday’s message about the importance of praying together?
  • Pastor Zohary reminded us that it’s possible to look healed on the outside but remain broken on the inside. What area of your life would you like God to repair and heal?

Scripture Engagement – Read Nehemiah 9:5-6

  • Pastor Zohary reminded us that if we aren’t careful, we’ll become shaped by culture, social media, and those around us. etc. unless we start actively becoming shaped by Scripture. In Nehemiah before chapter 9, we see a turning, a shift of people going from being shaped by things of this world to being shaped by the Lord. What areas of your life do you want Scripture to shape more/have greater influence?
  • What would it look like to be so honest that we bring our collective sins before the Lord? What would restoration look like? Take time now to journal individually and then share in small gender based groups.

Personal Connection

  • Pastor Zohary reminded us today that prayer was meant to be personal, never private. Take time to personally write out a prayer to the Lord to tell Him of your renewed commitment to restoration after a time of confession. Then, have the goal of sharing that with a trusted friend this week and ask them to pray for you.

Group Prayer Time

  • As a group, read Acts 4:29-31
  • What do we want to see God do among us?  What are our burdens we want to bring before the Lord?
  • Pastor Zohary asked us the question, “How do we live as members of a body at New North?”
  • How can you as a community group be committed to showing up, engaging, and coming honestly into church over the summer months?
