Scriptures to read:

Matthew 10:26-42; Leviticus 9-10; Proverbs 23

Matthew 10 is about Jesus sending out his 12 disciples and commissioning them to go to the Jewish people to tell them The Kingdom of Heaven is near. Jesus told the disciples that it wouldn’t be easy. Some would receive the message and others would reject it. The main thing Jesus told them was not to worry or be afraid.

‘Do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be your speaking, but the spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:19-20

“So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.” Matthew 10:26

“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.” Matthew 10:28

Today, Jesus speaks those same words over us. Do not worry, Do not be afraid.

I think back to many years ago, when I was in grade school in Scotland. I grew up going to church and accepted Christ at 10 years old. I wore a little badge on my jacket to school that said God loves you. A boy in my class hit me over the head to knock sense into me and said “Why are you wearing that stupid badge’? I said because it’s true and God loves you, Bryan.

‘Do not be afraid”

As Christ followers we have not to be afraid, but step out in faith. As we share the Gospel message, we will come upon those who don’t want to hear or understand, pray for them.

During this time of Lent let us share the good news of Christ’s eternal grace.

Do not be afraid.

Memory Verse: What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. - Matthew 10:27

Prayer: Heavenly Father, We thank you for this day. Help me to share your love to others who don’t know you. I trust in you to give me the correct words to share this good news. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
