Scriptures to read:

Hebrews 11:1-22; Exodus 13:1-14:31; Proverbs 5

This year has been hard.

Really hard.

On all of us.

We’ve all experienced loss, frustration, isolation.

There have been days when I’ve felt so overwhelmed my body just felt hallow and numb after a whirlwind of emotions left me simply exhausted.  When the circumstances of this world feel too big for us, how do we carry on?

By Faith.

Our passage in Hebrews today mentions “By Faith” 15 times and gives us examples of people who lived by faith.

It is By Faith we live each and every day.

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Our faith — in our Powerful, Loving, Sovereign Father— is what keeps us going, especially when life hits us hard.  In Hebrews 11:11, Sarah reminds us that it is not just our faith to God, but God’s faithfulness to us.  She “considered Him faithful who had made the promise”.  The Bible is filled with God’s promises to us.  In the Exodus passage (13:11), we are reminded again— “He (God) promised an oath to you and your ancestors”.

So, what’s this oath?  Here’s just a sampling of God promises to us:  He will never leave us or forsake us, He guides us, protects us, equips us, strengthens us, comforts us and LOVES us.

As Christ followers we know all this.  But when our hearts are heavy and the world weighs us down, sometimes it’s hard to feel God’s presence and receive these promises.

God knows this... so He gives us guidance in these passages today:

* Have people in your life that live By Faith; they can support and encourage you.

* Meditate on who God is— our Creator, Sustainer.

* Remember how He has been faithful to you in the past, and trust He is faithful now.

* Know God’s timing and plans may not make sense to us, but He works ALL things out for good for those who love him.

By Faith we walk through this day- step by step.

Memory Verse: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. - Hebrews 11:1

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am overwhelmed....  not by my circumstances, but by your abundant Love for me.  Thank you, Lord for your oath and promises you made for me and my family.  Help me Father to remember your goodness when I am feeling weary.  By Faith, I walk with you today. I love you Lord. Amen.
