Scriptures to read:

Luke 20:1-26; Genesis 35:1-36:43; Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?

What a fitting Bible verse, as the new year has come upon us and Covid seems never ending.

What is your fear?

Mine is that I wont get to see my mum this year as covid ravages on and international travel is still shut down. I am thankful for the technology of Facetime to be able to see my mum, talk and laugh and to be able to blow her a kiss, but, I can’t wait  just to be able to hug her.

Where there is so much fear, we have to have faith in God.

When everything around us is dark, God is light and is in control.

God has a plan for your life and for mine.

To feel that God is the stronghold of my life makes me feel comforted, protected and loved.

No Covid pandemic is going to stop God being the stronghold of my life.

That is why the Psalmist asks “ Of whom shall I be afraid?”

Nothing in the present or the future that came David’s way could subvert God’s hold of him. It’s the same for us. God is in control! Put your trust in Him.

Memory Verse: Hear my voice when I call, O Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. - Psalm 27:7

Prayer: Gracious God, We thank you for this day. Thank you for being the light in my life. Help me to turn to you, when things seem overwhelming and so out of control. You are my strength and I trust in you. In your name. Amen.
