Pastor Rob Hall continues our series: The Jesus Way: A Journey Through the Sermon on the Mount. In this week’s message, we dive into Matthew 5:17-37, where Jesus reveals that true righteousness goes beyond outward behavior—He is after our hearts, thoughts, and attitudes. Jesus reminds us that He came to fulfill the law, freeing us to live as Kingdom people who embody His way of life in integrity, faithfulness, purity and forgiveness.

Read: Matt 5:17- 20

Reflection Questions:

  1. Jesus fulfilled the law so you can live freely in His Kingdom. What is an area of your life that you desire to live more freely?
  2. Matt 5:21-26 -Kingdom people don’t hold grudges any longer. Who do you need to forgive? Where do you need Jesus’ help to overcome anger?
  3. Matt 5:27-3- Kingdom people work hard at having a pure thought life. Where do you need Jesus’ help to become pure of heart and mind?
  4. Matt 5:31-32- Kingdom people practice lifelong faithfulness. How can we be gracious to those in our Body who have experienced divorce?
  5. Matt 5:33-37- Kingdom people say “yes, yes” and “no, no”. Where can your words be more clear and gracious?

Pray: Jesus is after more than our behavior, he is after our hearts, thoughts and attitudes. Confess, surrender and ask for the Holy Spirit to transform one another!
