On Sunday, Pastor Rob dove into Jesus’ Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1-12. What does it mean to live a blessed life? Jesus offers us a picture of happiness, one that is true and lasting found in unexpected places. The Beatitudes challenges us to re-think what we know about happiness. A blessed, happy life comes from a life lived with Jesus.
Reflection Questions:
Warm up
- Do you have any New Year goals, dreams or words to live by?
- A Blessed Life: (Greek: “Macarios” meaning a state of inner contentment/ happiness) is a life lived with Jesus. Of these 8 beatitudes, is there one that you’ve experienced in your own journey?
- To be “poor in spirit” is to humbly acknowledge your need for God- how have you experienced this?
- Are you mourning or grieving something? How have you experienced Jesus’ comfort?
- Do you know anyone who exemplifies meekness?
- How has your appetite changed (what you hunger and thirst for) since you began following Jesus?
- Do you know anyone who is a peacemaker- (brings “Shalom”: wholeness and harmony)?
- Read the verses again (in a different version below) and pray in partners for the Holy Spirit’s work in us to live blessed lives according to the passage.
- Pray: for believers around the world suffering persecution for preaching the Word of Christ.
