Pastor Rob launched our new series God Who Hears by looking at the book of Job and what it teaches us about prayer. Prayer isn’t just about asking God for things, it’s about knowing Him. The main purpose of prayer is to deepen our knowledge of God, and in doing so, we also gain a clearer understanding of God and our circumstances.

Prayer gives us a greater knowledge of God and ourselves and helps us to see both rightly. This week use A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication) to pray

  • The “A” is for adoration.
    • Take time to first adore God for who He is, “God, you are amazing, wonderful, holy, powerful, good, etc.”
  • Then move to the “C” for confession.
    • In light of who God is, like Job, we should be humbled and confess our sin, weaknesses, and failures to God.
  • Next, because our sin has been paid for and forgiven by Jesus Christ, we should be thankful, that’s the “T”.
    • Take time to thank God for all his blessings and for even the trials in your life.
  • Then end with the “S” is for supplication.
    • Ask God to supply what you need, “Lord, please provide for me, pray for people in your life, etc.”
