Pastor Rob preaches on Matthew 6:13 of the Lord’s Prayer, “Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one”, highlighting how we should pray when we face temptation. God always provides a way out from sin through the power of the Holy Spirit and through confession in community. When we pray, we fight with Jesus interceding for us, and under His life, death, and resurrection, we are covered by His righteousness and have the freedom to fight against sin. Take a moment to pray and ask God to help you in an area you are being tempted and pray God’s protection over your life and community. Ask God to deliver you and believe that He will.
1. What tempts you more: sweet treats or salty treats?
2. Scriptures : We have 3 enemies: the world, the flesh and the devil
1 John 2: 15-17
What ways can the things of the world tempt us?
James 1:13-15
What ways does the flesh (our bodies, minds, desires) tempt us?
1 Peter 5:8
What unique ways does our enemy, the devil, tempt you?
3. Reflection: What tools do we have to fight/ resist/ stand firm? (See: 1 John 4:4, Romans 6:12-14, 1 Cor 1:13)
4. Application: What is one area you are fighting temptation or need deliverance. Pray for one another! Buddy up and make a plan to be accountable this week.
5. Worship song: “O Christ be Magnified”
Listen together and share one area of your life that you’d want Christ to be magnified!
