This Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing from Pastor David Thomas of Asbury University, who preached a powerful message from Psalm 126 on travailing prayer. Drawing on his firsthand experience during the Asbury Awakening in 2023, Pastor David reminded us that awakening and revival have changed the course of history before, and they can happen again, but it starts with a desperate and honest recognition that we are broken and in need of God alone.
Pastor David called us back to a kind of prayer we’ve largely lost in the West: travailing prayer, a raw, gritty, emotionally honest cry before God. Let us be a church marked by that kind of desperation, pressing in for more of God. May we boldly pray: “Your Kingdom come: In my home as it is in heaven! In New North as it is in heaven! In the SF Bay Area as it is in heaven!”
