Receive With Faith
Series
Let Earth Receive Her King | December 7, 2025
Speaker
Zohary Ross
Pastor Zohary continues our Advent series “Let Earth Receive Her King” by diving into Mary’s story. Her “yes” to God and faith opened the door for the coming of Christ into the world and into her own life. She was the first person to “receive her King.” We’re reminded that faith isn’t about having the full plan, it’s about trusting that God’s plan is bigger than ours and finding peace in the one who keeps every promise. Is there room in your life to receive God’s unexpected blessings? This Advent, may we slow down, make space in our hearts, schedules and plans and echo Mary’s words: “I am the Lord’s servant. May your work to me be fulfilled.”
1. Warm up: What kind of vacation planner are you? Do you like to plan every detail or do you just go with the flow? How do you respond to minor interruptions to your plans?
2. Reflect on the Message: Zohary preached on how Mary had plans to marry Joseph and live a peaceful life, but a big interruption happened in her life when the angel Gabriel told her that she is highly favored and will conceive the Son of God. Without knowing the exact plans, Mary faithfully serves God and the rest is history. What do you take away from Mary's faithfulness?
3. Scripture Engagement: Mary's trust in God stems from who she believes God is. Who is God to you? What passages or stories in the Bible help you to trust Him during challenging times?
4. Personal Connection: Just as Mary has encountered, inconvenient interruptions have happened and will continue to happen in our lives. Reflect on the biggest interruptions in your life. How did you get through it? Were there any blessings that came out of it?
5. Practical Application: When interruptions happen, we may forget who God is, forget what He has done in our lives, or even believe lies the world tells us about Him and ourselves. We just talked about what the Bible says who God is and how God has blessed you through some difficult times in the past. We should reflect on these regularly. Take a few minutes to reflect on these and share your reflections with the group.
Group Prayer Time
Share with the group any interruptions you or someone else you know is going through and lift them up in prayer.
